community guidelines
effective june 5, 2026
hytch is built for people coordinating shared routes. these community guidelines explain the basic behavior expected from everyone who uses hytch.
using hytch means agreeing to treat others with respect, use accurate information, follow the law, and make safe decisions.
respect everyone
treat people with basic respect before, during, and after a shared route. do not:
- harass, threaten, intimidate, or bully anyone;
- use hateful, discriminatory, sexual, violent, or abusive language;
- make unwanted personal comments;
- pressure someone to accept a request, share a route, continue a route, or communicate outside the app;
- retaliate against someone for declining, cancelling, reporting, or blocking.
hytch may remove users who make the platform uncomfortable, unsafe, or abusive for others.
use accurate information
your profile, route, and vehicle information should be honest and accurate. do not:
- use a fake name or impersonate someone else;
- upload misleading profile photos;
- lie about your route, pickup, or destination;
- misrepresent your vehicle;
- use someone else’s account;
- create multiple accounts to avoid restrictions.
accurate information helps users make informed decisions.
follow the law
do not use hytch to break the law or help anyone else break the law. you may not use hytch to:
- transport illegal substances;
- commit or assist crimes, or evade law enforcement;
- traffic, exploit, or harm people;
- carry weapons unlawfully;
- request illegal stops, dropoffs, maneuvers, or activity;
- violate traffic, vehicle, insurance, or transportation laws.
drivers must follow traffic laws at all times. passengers must not pressure drivers to speed, make unsafe turns, stop illegally, or drive recklessly.
no commercial ride-hailing or fare charging
hytch is for shared-route coordination.
do not use hytch to operate a taxi service, paid ride-hailing service, delivery service, courier service, or commercial transportation business.
drivers may not demand fares, tips, payouts, or required payments through hytch. hytch does not set ride prices and does not process ride payments.
users may choose to discuss optional cost-sharing outside hytch where permitted by law, but hytch is not responsible for those outside arrangements.
safety comes first
use your judgment. do not share a route or join a route if something feels wrong. recommended safety steps:
- review the user’s profile and verification badges;
- confirm the person and vehicle before getting in;
- confirm the route details;
- meet in a reasonable pickup area;
- keep your phone charged;
- contact emergency services if there is immediate danger.
hytch does not guarantee user behavior, route safety, vehicle condition, or identity beyond the verification features shown in the app.
driver expectations
drivers using hytch must:
- have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle they are legally allowed to drive;
- maintain legally required insurance;
- follow traffic laws and avoid distracted driving;
- never drive under the influence;
- keep vehicle information accurate;
- avoid unsafe pickup or dropoff locations;
- only accept route requests they are willing and able to complete;
- respect passengers’ boundaries and privacy.
drivers should not continue a route if they feel unsafe.
passenger expectations
passengers using hytch must:
- be respectful toward drivers and other users;
- be ready near the agreed pickup area;
- avoid causing delays without communication;
- not damage vehicles or property;
- not bring unsafe, illegal, or inappropriate items;
- not distract the driver or pressure them into unsafe route changes;
- respect the driver’s boundaries and vehicle.
passengers should not join or continue a route if they feel unsafe.
cancellations and reliability
plans can change, but users should be considerate. do not repeatedly:
- request routes you do not intend to join;
- accept users you do not intend to pick up;
- cancel at the last second without a real reason;
- fail to show up;
- mislead users about timing or location.
hytch may limit accounts that repeatedly create unreliable or disruptive route activity.
privacy and boundaries
respect other users’ privacy. do not:
- share another user’s phone number, location, route, vehicle details, profile, messages, or personal information without permission;
- record, photograph, or post another user without consent where prohibited or inappropriate;
- contact users outside hytch in a harassing or unwanted way;
- use route information to stalk, track, or monitor someone.
route and profile information should only be used to coordinate the shared route.
reports and blocking
if something goes wrong, use report or block tools when available. report issues such as harassment, unsafe driving, fake profile or vehicle information, discrimination, threats, illegal activity, payment pressure, route misuse, or safety concerns.
blocking a user may prevent future matching or interaction with that user.
enforcement
hytch may take action when users violate these guidelines, the terms of service, or safety expectations. actions may include warning the user, removing content, limiting route access, hiding a user from matches, suspending an account, deleting an account, or contacting authorities where appropriate.
hytch may consider reports, route activity, account history, safety signals, and other relevant information when deciding what action to take.
remember what hytch is
hytch helps people coordinate shared routes. hytch does not provide rides, employ drivers, guarantee users, guarantee safety, process ride payments, or run background checks unless explicitly stated in the app.
everyone using hytch is responsible for their own decisions, conduct, and safety.
